1. If your children did not get a chance to learn how to ride a bike this summer now is the best time to teach them! The weather is cool and comfortable and you can stay out for hours after school before the sun goes down. Workout-wise…

You both win!

  • You get the benefit of doing short sprints along slide your child and they get bonding time with you and wicked sick bike riding skills!
  • If your kids are a bit older and they already know how to ride a bike, why not go on an after school ride with them! For an extra challenge let them pick the route and try to keep up!

2. Kids love jump rope! Remember double dutch? It’s harder than you remember. Even better, individual Jump Rope uses practically every muscle in your body and is one of the top forms of cardiovascular activity from a calorie burning stand point. It turns your metabolism into a calorie burning machine! So try skipping with your kid.

You both win!

  • You both get bonding time as you try to keep pace… and stumble on the rope.
  • Your child gets to burn off extra energy (not in front of the T.V) and you get exercise at the same time!

3. It’s Apple picking season!!!! It’s a great family day trip on a Saturday afternoon. Throw on some comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty in and go pick apples. It’s actually a great workout. You’ll spend the day squatting to pick up the apples that fall on the ground, use your back to hoist the baskets, and work your upper body using your arms, shoulders, and chest to pull apples off the trees, not to mention your abdominal complex gets worked at all times.

You both win!

  • A great family activity. You get your workout in, your children get to go apple picking! How cool is that?!
  • You also get to enjoy the harvest- a healthy, vitamin rich, fiber bomb of deliciousness! You go home with a bucket full of healthy apples ready for eating, baking, jam and butter making! Home made apple butter rocks!images

4. Ditch the car and hit the trails on a family hike!

You Both Win

  • Not only do you get family time, but you get time with nature. And you get to show your children there is more to life then rushing around from place to place.

5. It’s summer’s last hoorah! Get out there and go swimming! Play games like Tag, Marco Polo and pool olympics where you do things like race and time yourself treading water!

You Both Win

  • Treading water and swimming is an incredible way to burn maximum amount of calories without putting pressure or strain on your joints!
  • Everyone will be so whipped from their day in the pool, the household will sleep like babies! Including you.
