Comparing Yourself to Celebrities

I recently read a quote by Tosca Reno and thought that it was so cool, I wanted to share it with you.
A bunch of fitness celebrities were asked how they maintain a six-pack. Most of them listed the exercises they did or the way they ate. Tosca answered honestly and I so appreciated her answer. Being in the fitness industry I know that getting AND maintaining a six pack is not easy to do. You have to work at it and be 100% with your eating and Tosca (thank you!) let the world know this. She basically said that her abs weren’t always magically there. When she had a photo shoot or an event she had to eat a very strict diet in order to be in top condition.
It’s tough because we all see these amazing celebrities with these bodies and think “I want to look like that! “. But the reality of the situation is that looking the way celebrities look is THEIR JOB. Your job is to be a banker, a mom, a teacher or a business owner- their job is to be eye candy so we can have a moment away from our job. You work at your job 8 – 10 hours a day. They work at their job 8 – 10 hours a day too. If you had 8 – 10 hours to put into what you ate and when and how you worked out – you would also look like this. Celebrities hire trainers, cooks and coaches so that they can prepare for an upcoming movie or photo-shoot. And I promise you that when they have time off, they take it. (We just don’t see the pictures of it). Unfortunately looking a certain way has become Hollywood’s FULL TIME job. You already have one so please DO NOT compare yourself to stars.
For sure, eat healthy and exercise so that you can maintain a healthy weight, build bone strength, lower your risk of heart disease and certain types of cancers, prevent type two diabetes and much more. But don’t work out to be Jennifer Aniston. Trust me, you don’t have the time in your day to look like this women just like you don’t have the time in your day to become Warren Buffet! For some reason we think there is no way we could be someone like Warren Buffet but we get so mad at ourselves that we’re not Jennifer Aniston!

As always you are the wise one! Great point.
[...] Be realistic about how much you can take on. Work busy and stressful ? Life at home busy and stressful ? Decide what you can realistically do and aim for that. Maybe make a schedule with your spouse so you know when you can get to the gym and how dinner is actually going to get made every night. [...]
“Please DO NOT compare yourself to the stars” I think this is absurd, why should you not compare yourself to celebrities, hello if it’s their job (according to this article) to look good then they do. You SHOULD compare because when you do you see how ugly you really are, even if you think you look good that day, at least that is why I do. Correction: I thought actors got paid to act, singers got paid to sing, dancers got paid to dance…etc, I guess they SUCK at their jobs according to this article. Why don’t you say the truth that they WANT to look like that because they are selfish, and got the money, time, and resources to look like that. That they WANT to be named the MOST beautiful people on EARTH, while teenage girls starve themselves, make themselves throw up, overexercie, take diet pills, and even smoke to be that thin, and they end up not looking like that(trust me on that one, a lot of my friends and I do that.) You could try your BEST at looking good or at anything for that matter, but you are NEVER going to be good enough ( I know the feeling of doing your BEST and yet not succeeding and therefore, not being good enough), that is what i got from this article. Now what is the point of counting calories, fat grams, carb grams, watching your sodium and sugar intake, watching portion sizes, going to the gym everyday for an hour if you do not look good or do not see the results you want. For god’s sake save yourself the embarrassment, time, effort, money, and put downs becasue you did not achieve your goals, do not even try, the process which you did your BEST at is worthless and pointless then. Realistic goals to me equal being fat, ugly, and worthless. Thank you so much for your article it really helped. ps. a worthless article telling people their fat is not going to stop them from comparing themselves to the stars. Well atleast me.
