Now that spring is in the air and summer is around the corner, it’s a great time to get into a walking routine. I have been trying to remember to wear my pedometer every day so that I can post how many steps I have taken. I try everyday to get to 10,000. 10,000 steps is generally the number of steps taken in a day during daily activity before technology took over – when society was much more active. This is a great number to aim for everyday.  Most days I have been managing to do it.

Here’s how:

  • I’ll purposely walk when I know it will be faster and more convenient to drive.
  • I’ll follow my own advice and park far away, take the stairs or bring my groceries into the house one bag at a time.
  • Before the sun sets, I’ll go for a walk around the block just to get a couple hundred more steps in!It’s amazing how quickly your steps add up.

You can buy a pedometer at your local pharmacy. They are only about 15 bucks! Team up with someone and compare (or even compete). I always find it easier to get things done when I have an accomplice. It just helps with motivation.

Keep me posted as to how many steps your walking everyday. It would be great to hear how your doing!

For me, today I walked a lot! ( But I knew I was going to post about walking so I tried really hard to hit my magic number ;-) 12342 Steps.
