With each change in season, a new way of eating presents itself. In winter, I eat a lot of soups and stews. Now that summer is peeking it’s head around the corner, I’m so excited to clean off my grill and start to barbecue! For someone who tries to eat healthy everyday, barbecue season is the easiest season to stay on track. All you need is a piece of lean protein and some corn on the cob or a salad and you’ve got yourself a delicious, fast and easy meal! Not to mention cold barbecue leftovers are great for lunch – on top of a salad or even in a wrap!

Here are seven different options for seven different dinners. All you have to do is heat up the cue and throw some protein on it.
  • Chicken Breasts -try marinating in Franks Hot Wing Sauce. Delicious- tastes just like buffalo chicken wings!
  • Turkey Sausages – No seasoning required.
  • Lean Steaks – a touch of olive oil and some garlic. Or, try a sprinkle of Montreal Steak Spice.
  • Salmon on a Cedar Plank or just on some tin foil. Olive oil, lemon, garlic and dill go a long way! Also, have a look back at my salmon recipe - it’s delicious on the grill!

  • Shrimp Skewers - Olive oil, garlic and maybe a touch of lemon is all you’ll need!
  • Lean Pork Chops - Salt and pepper! Serve with a fruit chutney or grill some apples on the cue!
  • Halibut or Bass grilled in a foil wrap- Try a touch of white wine, crushed tomatoes, fresh garlic, basil, salt and pepper!
