If you’re participating in The Passover Challenge, the most important two tips I can give you are:

  • 1. Be Prepared
  • 2. Stay Full
How do you do this ?
Snack!
Prepare yourself snacks for the day and carry them with you wherever you go. Keep snacks in your car, keep snacks in your purse! If you’re hungry, you’re more likely to reach for your prepared healthy snack then the box of matzoh or the macaroons.

Here are some snack ideas. Once again feel free to add to the list!
  1. Pre-cut vegetables.  Have a big Tupperware container of already cut vegetables in your fridge so they are easy to reach for and don’t require work when you’re hungry. Celery, carrots, peppers, cucumber and cherry tomatoes are all good options.
  2. Yogurt. The individual servings of non fat plain yogurt are a great snack to grab and go. Feel free to add berries to sweeten it up!
  3. Cheese Strings.
  4. A one ounce serving of unsalted nuts such as cashews, almonds or brazil nuts.
  5. Hard boiled egg. Remove the yellow and fill it with your favorite humus!
  6. Cottage cheese and berries.
  7. A piece of fruit such as an apple, banana or plum.
  8. Make a big pot of vegetable soup at the start of the challenge and keep in in the fridge. Warm yourself up a bowl when you get peckish or pack a container of it to bring it to work with you for that mid afternoon lull. Click HERE and HERE for  two great recipes.
I always carry a big bad of vegetables with me and you will always find a one ounce package of nuts in my car. I eat as many vegetables as I want. I never let myself get hungry because when I’m hungry I reach for the quickest most delicious thing around. Chances are if I don’t have something healthy to grab, something no so healthy fills the hole.
