Running out the door without breakfast is never a good idea. We all do it, but not eating breakfast can really mess with the rest of your day! Even though you may not technically feel hungry - your organs and muscles need the energy after a nights sleep to get you going. You’re feeding your heart- not your thighs in the morning, so eat appropriately! A great breakfast should include complex carbohydrates as well as protein. Here are some suggestions for a run out the door breakfast:

  1. The obvious!  Whole grain toast and peanut butter. I am actually a new fan of cashew butter! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but it’s delicious!
  2. Have the toast with some 2% milk fat cheddar cheese.
  3. Have the toast with a wedge of  Laughing Cow Light and tomato slices.
  4. Grab the hard boiled egg you prepared in your fridge, a cheese string and an apple.
  5. Grab a container of the oatmeal you made the night before and a banana. Heat it up at work! You may want to grab an apple for the car ride!
  6. In a Tupperware container mix cottage cheese and berries to bring with you.
  7. Grab a yogurt and add some bananas to slice into it.
  8. Whip up a shake and take it in a to go cup.
  • Try this:

Peanut Butter Banana Breakfast Shake
  • 1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt
  • 1 small banana (frozen if you’re really prepared!)
  • 1 tsp Peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup non fat milk

I always keep a box of All Bran bars at my desk at work. They are high in fiber and taste like a cookie!

OK, as healthy as your options but I am convinced it’s better than grabbing something really sinfull at the cafe downstairs… or in the afternoon they are better than going to the vending machine.
