On The Go Breakfast Ideas

Running out the door without breakfast is never a good idea. We all do it, but not eating breakfast can really mess with the rest of your day! Even though you may not technically feel hungry - your organs and muscles need the energy after a nights sleep to get you going. You’re feeding your heart- not your thighs in the morning, so eat appropriately! A great breakfast should include complex carbohydrates as well as protein. Here are some suggestions for a run out the door breakfast:
- The obvious! Whole grain toast and peanut butter. I am actually a new fan of cashew butter! It’s a bit on the pricey side, but it’s delicious!
- Have the toast with some 2% milk fat cheddar cheese.
- Have the toast with a wedge of Laughing Cow Light and tomato slices.
- Grab the hard boiled egg you prepared in your fridge, a cheese string and an apple.
- Grab a container of the oatmeal you made the night before and a banana. Heat it up at work! You may want to grab an apple for the car ride!
- In a Tupperware container mix cottage cheese and berries to bring with you.
- Grab a yogurt and add some bananas to slice into it.
- Whip up a shake and take it in a to go cup.
- Try this:
- 1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt
- 1 small banana (frozen if you’re really prepared!)
- 1 tsp Peanut butter
- 1/2 cup non fat milk

I always keep a box of All Bran bars at my desk at work. They are high in fiber and taste like a cookie!
OK, as healthy as your options but I am convinced it’s better than grabbing something really sinfull at the cafe downstairs… or in the afternoon they are better than going to the vending machine.
