Which Type Of Exercise Is The Right One?

There are a ton of different ways to workout. But which way is the right way?
- Everyone wants to know the “elusive” secret to fitness. Heavy lifters think weights are the way to go and say cardio classes are useless. Cardio people pooh-pooh weights for fear of bulking up. And runners love the adrenaline rush.
Here’s something to think about. What other animal on the planet can lift, climb, throw, pull, push, walk, run, hurdle, jump and swim? As a human you have the facilities to perform all of these tasks and more.
So why not do them all?
Case in point. I read about a man with no arms who could peel a banana, eat spaghetti with a fork, and write his name- all with his feet! It reminded me of my nephew innately grabbing my finger with his little toes. This is something we are completely capable of doing, but because we don’t ever use it, our feet become un-nimble tree stumps. So what do you think happens to your body when you stop doing the things your capable of doing, like, for example, climbing stairs?
- I guess the point I am making is that you should not do just one type of exercise. Too much of anything is bad and can become redundant. You should do it all! I went inline skating for the first time in years and was a little wobbly ( okay, a lot wobbly), but it was an awesome workout. If you’ve been doing the same workout everyday since high school and wonder why you’re not seeing results, it’s because you aren’t surprising your muscles.
So, go on. Do something you haven’t done in years. Or better yet, do something you’ve never tried before. Dance, jump, climb, run, lift, swim, use chopsticks with your toes. But do it. It doesn’t matter what your ‘it’ is. Anyone that tells you that only “one kind of exercise is best” is missing the point. I understand that people have their favorites. But, for the sake of your body do it all. Use it or lose it
