If you’re trying to lose weight, or even if you’re just trying to maintain your weight, staying full is imperative. Yup, you heard me right, you need to fill up! The danger with dieting comes when you’re feel hungry, so it’s important to keep yourself full.

  • Here are some tips:
  1. Drink water. Sometimes when we’re hungry we are actually thirsty. And water is actually food that feeds our bodies. So, although that bag of chips tastes a whole lot better then a tall glass of water, water is what your body needs. With a full belly of water, chances are the craving will go away.
  2. Eat lots of vegetables. Carry around a bag of celery sticks, cucumbers, carrots and colored peppers with you wherever you go. Munch on them all day.
  3. Soup! A pureed vegetable or a clear broth soup is not only light on calories but it will help fill you up.
  4. Snacks full of protein as opposed to carbohydrate ones are also a good idea. Yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese strings or a small handful of nuts. Protein takes longer to digest and wont raise your blood sugar levels. This means, after you eat,  you don’t still feel hungry.

My favorite trick is this: I go to the grocery store, I buy two big bundles of celery and I wash and cut them up as soon as I get home. I store them in a container filled with water to keep them fresh and crispy. They are always right there for me to grab and munch on.
