  • 1. Drink Water.

Water keeps you feeling full. Your metabolism needs water to function properly. Only when you are fully hydrated can your metabolism be a fuel burning machine!

  • 2. Fill up on lean protein and vegetables.

Protein not only takes longer to digest, but compared to carbohydrates and fat, your body has to work harder to digest it- therefore you burn more calories digesting protein than you do digesting potato chips!

  • 3. Don’t eat 2 hours before bed.

This is merely a way for you to stop unneeded calories going into your body at a bad time. Generally at night you’re just bored so you reach for whatever is quick and tasty. Eating proper meals and not eating 2 hours before bed helps to prevent these unwanted calories.

  • 4. Eat fiber.

Getting your recommended daily intake (RDI) of Fiber, 24 grams, is important to any and all weight loss success. Fiber helps keep you feeling full and it helps maintain consistent blood glucose levels so that your insulin doesn’t spike and then drastically fall leaving you feeling hungry again.

  • 5. Eat low fat dairy.

Full of protein, low fat dairy is another food that helps to keep you feeling full. But here is the kicker: new research suggests that dairy is a key to your body ridding itself of fat. There’s a theory that fat latches onto dairy and the dairy moves through your body! I imagine it like a roller-coaster ride where the dairy is the car seat and the fat is the passenger.

  • 6. Don’t deprive yourself.

Have what you want in moderation. Taking a food and making it off limits can only result in one thing, a full-on BINGE. If you know you are allowed chocolate or pizza, you’re less likely to go crazy when you eat it. Allow yourself what you want, just make sure it’s in proper portions and in moderation.

I always heard/have read that it is don’t eat after 7pm (even though I find that next to impossible). Thoughts?

I think it depends what you do at night. If you go to bed at midnight then I would say 7pm is too early. My general rule of thumb is not to eat 3 hours before bed. If you are not sure when bedtime is, I always TRY for 8pm. I will write a post this week for you on my reasoning behind this. Stay tuned!
