Here we are at the end of four weeks without sugar, caffeine or processed food of any kind. Team sugar free was made up of four members. Here are our stories:
- Me: What did I learn during the cleanse?
That I have the ability to say no to something and actually listen to myself and I’m not going to die because I didn’t have it.
- What habits will I take away with me?
I will probably stay really close to how I am eating now. It’s not such a far cry from how I ate before the cleanse. The big difference for me is that the ‘food monsters’ in my head have finally shut up! What I mean is – I’m someone who thinks about food a lot. I feel guilty when I eat crap and then I obsess about it for a long after I eat. Or, if I decide not to eat the crap, a REALLY long conversation takes place in my head as I talk myself down from the chocolate. Not once did those voices come out to play and it was fantastic.
- How did I wrap up 4 weeks without sugar?

I had Pizza Hut ‘The Edge” vegetarian pizza, extra crispy, light on the cheese and green olives. I tried to fill up on salad so I wouldn’t over eat the pizza . Every bite was delicious and I savored the red wine I had with it.
- Cleanse Homie #1: What did he learn during the cleanse?
His cravings can actually be contained.
- What habits will he take away with him?
He now feels he has the power and control to tame any craving that is not worth fulfilling.
- How did he wrap up 4 weeks without sugar?
Pizza Hut Hawaiian pizza, salad and red wine. Just in time for the Superbowl!
- Cleanse Homie #2: What did she learn during the cleanse?
Before the cleanse when she was tired in the afternoon she would reach for a cookie or a cup of coffee. Neither worked. Now she has learned that if she eats protein in the afternoon (some nuts or cottage cheese) she gets the energy she needs to make it through the day! She says she has learnt how to listen to her body. Pretty cool! She really thought is was a fantastic exercise, this coming from someone who really found the first week hard and was ready to throw in the towel. But she didn’t quit and she says it was well worth it!
- What habits will she take away with her?
She plans on keeping many of the habits she has formed on the cleanse. She will continue toeat protein as a mid-afternoon snack instead of sugar and she will always keep a healthy snack with her in the car.
- How did she wrap up 4 weeks without sugar?
Pizza Hut ground beef with tomato and mushroom, salad and a glass of white wine.
- Cleanse Homie #3: What did she learn during the cleanse?
She learned she can actually live medicine free! I think it’s just amazing that someone who has been on medicine everyday for eight years for acid reflux has been able to go 14 days without it. She is also sleeping through the night for the first time in years! Another amazing side effect!
- What habits will she take away with her?
You don’t have to drink to have a good time. It helps

but you don’t need it! She is also planning on keeping the sugar free regime during the week and is going to try to figure out her weekends.
- How did she wrap up 4 weeks without sugar?
Pizza Hut Canadian pizza , salad and a glass of white wine.
- Congrats team sugar free! We did it!
