Ditching the Bon Bons

IntoFit | February 13th, 2009 | Holiday Eating Guide | No Comments »

The idea of having a specific day to celebrate love is kinda nice. The fact that chocolate covered cherries have taken over is a bit infuriating! Why is it that every holiday we celebrate is centered around food!? And on a day that we’re supposed to feel loved, we over indulge on chocolate and wake up feeling awful!
  • Let me say this – Flowers go a long way!  Although you can’t eat em’ , they’re beautiful, they brighten up a room, they sure can make a girl smile and they tend to last a lot longer than a box of treats.

There is a lot of research about chocolate ”being good for you” – research has now provided us with a great excuse to continue to eat chocolate. Have a look at this article I read in The Globe and Mail yesterday morning.

Just like the article says, I firmly believe if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And chocolate being good for you, sure does sound good!

  • I’m not saying stuff your sweetie when he shows up with a box of bon bons, but don’t eat the whole box. SAVOR one or two treats and then when he’s not looking- throw them away. I know it’s a horrible thought to throw away food, but it’s the only way to insure you will not eat those chocolates. And really, they are better in the garbage then making a new home on your thighs.

If you find yourself alone on Valentines day, go out and pick yourself up some beautiful daises to brighten up your house and leave the sweets at the store.
