Non Fat Plain Yogurt

IntoFit | December 8th, 2008 | Foods and Products | 3 Comments »

I’ve had a few requests from my Canadian readers to address the fact that they don’t carry my favorite brand of Greek Yogurt in Canada. Fage.  So I’ve found a great alternative!

I must admit, it’s not as creamy and thick as Fage, but calorie for calorie, ingredient for ingredient, protein for protein it’s on par 100%. The brand is called Liberte and you can find it in your local grocery store- sometimes it’s in the organic section, sometimes it’s with the other yogurts. I buy the Liberte Cert Bio. Organic: No Fat Plain.
  • Much like the Fage, it’s ingredients are pure and simple with no extra gums or sugars to thicken or sweeten it up: Organic skimmed milk, bacterial culture and milk protein concentrate.
Like Fage 0% it has  80 calories per 1/2 cup and a whopping 13 grams of protein to help keep you full and satisfied!
I use it the same way I use the Fage- with fresh berries, as a replacement for mayo in tuna and chicken salads, and in baking!
Give it a try! Let me know what you think!

Yummy! I love this brand of fat free yogurt and I find the protein really makes a difference. It keeps me much fuller for longer.

How do you like to eat it ?

Maybe not the healthiest but I add 1 or 2 tsp of sugar and mix it up. I take it to work as my 3pm snack and usually it helps keep me full until dinner.

I can’t find the individual servings in the fat free, though. I can only find the 2% which is annoying. And the 2% has less protein – go figure!
