Sugar is a natural sweetener! Our body recognizes it and are able to take the nutrients and energy we need from it and then digest the rest.  I don’t know why we all started to run from sugar!  Well, I do. All of the sudden, the ice cream sandwiches went from 300 to 150 calories AND they became “sugar free”!

Well, first of all let me just say that there’s nothing free about “sugar free”. The artificial sweeteners they used to replace the sugar trick your body into thinking it’s getting sugar – even though it’s not. But here is the thing- real sugar has calories in it that your body can convert to energy. The artificial sweetener is calorie free (your body does not know how to process it- so it takes nothing from it). When your body realizes it’s not getting the calories it thought it was – you become HUNGRY .

You may think you are staying on your diet eating a fat free Jello, but in truth, you are just making things harder for yourself. If you had just had the regular Jello your body would have been satisfied– but instead you left your body wanting more.  You may have just set yourself up for eating 2 or even 3 of these “low calorie / sugar free treats” – adding more calories and fat to your treat than you would have had you just eaten the original.

Free yourself of sugar free.

    Love this entry Jay. You are SO right. Sugar free sucks. I’d rather have sugar than the chemical stuff any day.
