Milk. It Does Do The Body Good.

Our bodies need calcium – in my opinion, dairy is the best way to get it.
- From one glass of non fat milk you can get over 300 mg of calcium! That’s almost 1/3 of your daily requirements! (Which are 1000 mg a day incase you didn’t know.)
I am not a doctor, but it is my personal belief that your body is going to absorb the nutrients it needs better if it’s straight from the source. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a calcium supplement, but use it as a last resort. I think that having a glass of milk, a piece of cheese or a yogurt is your best bet.
- Not only is calcium great from bone health, but studies suggest that dairy products help element fat from your body! Dairy is high in protein, and as I mentioned yesterday, protein helps keep you full longer!
I try to add dairy into my day by eating it as a snack! Here’s a list of some of my snacks:
- Low fat cheese string
- Low fat yogurt
- 0% Greek Style Yogurt with Berries
- 1 cup of low or non-fat milk
- 3/4 cup non-fat milk with 1/4 cup low fat chocolate milk
- Frozen berries, 1/4 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of yogurt blended
If you have any other ideas on ways to snack on dairy, let me know! I’d love to hear!
