Ode to Yoga

I always have the best of intentions when it comes to Yoga. I know how good it is for me. I do. But I have so much trouble getting myself to do it. I just find it long, slow and boring. In truth, I can’t quiet my mind. I guess that’s really the whole purpose of meditation (and something I need to work on). When I do take a class, the most dreaded moment for me is at the very end when you get 5 or 10 minutes to just be with yourself in “corpse pose”. Well, there I lie performing rock music videos of Van Halen in my head. Having said that, I found this great Yoga DVD: Power Yoga: The complete Workout. On it, there are five 20 minute Yoga videos, and they are good. Before bed, I try to do one of the videos. But, for whatever reason, it’s hard to convince myself to do- even just for 20 minutes. If I can just get myself to do it once, I am so happy I did it, the next night seems a bit easier. Then – I go on a two month night time Yoga craze, and then, I seem to stop. Sometimes for MONTHS!!!! Well, I’m writing to tell you that me and Rodney are friends once again. Tonight is my second night doing my 20 minutes and I feel soooo good! It’s like an active stretch. A great way to relax before bed, and a great way to work out all the mean things I did to my body during the day. I don’t know why I ever stop! Cross fingers it lasts!
