Might As Well Jump!

Yup! Let’s be 7 again and break out the jump rope. It’s nuts, but what we did as children without even giving it a second thought could be the single most beneficial form of cardiovascular activity! 10 minutes of jump rope is almost equivalent to double that in running! Jump rope uses practically every muscle in your body. It’s an incredible way to rev up your metabolism and burn a ton of calories. You don’t have to jump high – just maybe an inch off the ground, jumping on the balls of your feet. When you don’t feel like getting on a piece of equipment, heading out for a walk or can’t get out of the house- break out that rope! Jump for 1 minute and rest for 1 minute. Try to do this 5 or 10 times so you get 5 or 10 minutes of jumping in. Be warned. You will feel clumsy. I too trip over myself and have been known to get caught in the rope. All part of the fun! Alright- so we may not be 7 anymore, but at least we can have some fun and feel like we are! I mean, isn’t that the point? To keep us feeling younger and healthier? Slowly work your way up to jumping for 2, 5 or even 10 continuous minutes. Hey if you have roomies, try some double dutch! You can even sing! Might as well jump! Go ahead and jump!
