Ah! I did it! I gotta say, I really, really did not want to go to the gym today. Like, at all. I got my gym cloths on, filled my water bottle and literally forced myself out the door. What got me out the door, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. I told myself I only had to go on the treadmill for 10 minutes, That’s it. How could I argue with that! My walk to the gym was filled with dread.I swear. With every step I had to tell myself ”Just 10 minutes Jessica. That’s it. You can pull this off. Just do it. Get it done.” and of course : “Ugh“. So I got on the treadmill, entered all my info and began. I’m not going to lie, the first 5 minutes was hard. I was so thankful I only had another 5 to go.(That was the deal!) But at around minute 8 I got into it. And when I asked myself if I thought I had another 5 minutes in me? My answer was “Yeah. I think I can swing just 5 more minutes.” And then, at minute 15, my favorite workout song was playing on my ipod – Pump It by The Black Eyed Peas – so I went for another 5. I ended up with a kick ass 35 minute run! It felt so good. Such a sense of accomplishment and GO ME as I cooled down on the treadmill. I really love it when I do something I didn’t think I could do. I have no idea who in the world claimed that in order to get benefits from a cardiovascular workout, it HAD TO BE more than 30 minutes! There is nothing wrong with 10 or 20. And hey, if you do 10 minutes in the morning and that’s all you’ve got, maybe by sundown you can squeeze in another 10 – or maybe not. The point is, you don’t have to do it all at once. 10 minutes is better than no minutes.
